On 28th of January, 2016, the ambassador, Aghasalim Shukurov met with the Lebanese Forces leader, Samir Geagea.

During the meeting, the ambassador provided detailed information about Azerbaijan, stating that under the leadership of Ilham Aliyev, Azerbaijan became a leader state within the region by signing a number of historical achievements and as the result of successful reforms.

The ambassador added the great importance of establishing the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Lebanese Republic in the direction of strengthening the relationships between the two countries.

Samir Geagea has highly appreciated the establishment of the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Lebanese Republic with expressing in confidence that this step will push forward the growth of relationships between the two countries.

The ambassador draw attention to the negotiation process that was conducted under the representatives of the OSCE Minsk Group over the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict where 20% of the territories of Azerbaijan have been occupied and more than one million refugees have been displaced in the consequence of Armenian brutality. 

Samir Geagea touched on the ongoing political process within Lebanon, presidential crisis, continuing dialogue between the Lebanese groups and the relationship of Lebanon with other countries.
